Pine Rivers assists with a Defibrillator at Dakabin High School

Our club was asked if we would contribute to the supply of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) to Dakabin State High School.

As that school is one which we regularly support, we decided to research the project. We became aware that another Rotary club in our District was able to supply an AED for a cost much less than the school had been quoted. It was also clear that a suitable method of storing the unit would be needed, as well as ongoing maintenance. Our club offered to supply the AED and a metal storage box at the significantly reduced price, if that could be regarded as our input to the project.

This offer was accepted and the end result is an AED available at the school.

If other groups wish to purchase an AED for their community, please contact the Rotary Club of Pine Rivers or the Rotary Club of Kingaroy. We will be glad to help, and advise.

Division 7 Councillor Denise Sims said she was proud to be able to provide assistance in the purchase of a new defibrillator for the school and its students.

“After a medical incident at the school, parents and staff approached me and the clubs late last year to help purchase a new defib - something I was more than happy to do,” Cr Sims said.

“The new defibrillator means staff can provide immediate aid to students in a medical emergency.”

New defibrillator for Dakabin State High

A pleasure to join our local Rotary and Lions clubs on Wednesday to present a new defibrillator to Dakabin State High School Principal Katrina Larsen and her students.

I’m proud to have been able to provide assistance together with the clubs to help purchase the defibrillator following recent medical incidents at the school.
